TIPS FOR THE END OF A DATE

By Gladys Alvarez

So you are out on a date and it will soon be coming to an end. What do you do? Regardless if you are on a date with someone you met in the grocery store or if this is someone you met on a dating online website, the tips are the same. The rules aren’t dependent on where you met.

The first tip for the end of a date is to be honest. If you had a good time let the person know, if you didn’t, don’t say you did because a good first date often leads to a second. Don’t forget that when you are out on a date and it’s not going well, you can always say thank you and end the date early. There are no set time limits for dates.

If the date ends after the meal, meaning dinner and no movie and the woman offers to pay her portion of the bill it is safe to say that this was a date with no strings attached to it. Some women like to pay for themselves because they don’t have the feeling of owing you anything at the end of the date or at a later date. A woman wanting to pay her own way does not necessarily mean the date didn’t go well.

If your date didn’t go well and your lady friend wishes to leave early and insists she will catch a cab home, be a gentleman and make sure she is safely put into the cab. Not all dates are going to be winners but remaining the gentleman is a good thing. Women talk and you never know who she will be talking to. Just because your date didn’t go well does not mean she will talk negatively about you. So remaining courteous should always be priority.

If the date was a success and you don’t want it to end quite yet, invite him out for coffee or dessert. There are many after hour coffee shops which are a great setting for continuing to get to know each other. For those who are into dating online, communication starts long before your initial first meeting, but once you are face to face and have really hit it off, a short date isn’t something either of you wants.

Keep in mind that getting to know someone is done in stages. You will never learn everything there is to know about someone in one date but it’s how that one date goes that will determine if there will be more.
